Flashback Friday: 10 Movies That Make You Want to Hug Your Bestie

Patty Aug 12, 2011

Your BFF. Your true blue. Your bestie. No matter what you call them, you know you can count on them in good times and in bad. They're the ones who celebrate hard with you when something great happens, but they're also the ones who hand you a tissue and buy you a pint of Ben & Jerry's when you're having a bad day. From celebrity best friends to regular folks' friendships - you can't go wrong with the right person by your side!

In honor of best friends and incredible friendships, here are 10 heartwarming movies starring best friends:

Beaches (1988)

If you haven't seen this classic best friend movie, do so RIGHT NOW. Preferably with your best friend!

Clueless (1995)

Tai might have started out as a project at first, but Cher and Dionne, being the awesome friends they are, welcomed the former "clueless" new girl with open arms.

First Wives Club (1996)

Sisters before misters! Funny ladies Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton star as college friends whose husbands dump them for younger prospects. Their motto: "Don't get mad - get EVERYTHING!"

My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

Can men and women be best friends without one falling for the other at some point? Julia Roberts stars in this adorable and funny movie about a lady who realizes she's in love with her best friend (Dermot Mulroney) after she finds out he's getting married. Yikes!

Now and Then (1995)

A 90s female version of the 80s classic Stand By Me, Now and Then made every girl want to be besties with Sam, Roberta, Teeny and Chrissy. All for one, and one for all!

Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion (1997)

In high school and beyond, Romy and Michelle stayed true blues, having each others' back even when times got hard at their high school reunion.

Stand By Me (1986)

The guy version of Now and Then, Stand By Me followed four friends on a mission to find a local boy's dead body. "It happens sometimes. Friends come in and out of our lives, like busboys in a restaurant."

The Outsiders (1983)

This group of "outsiders" may look rough and tough, but their comraderie was more like a family.

Toy Story (1995)

You've got a friend in Buzz and Woody - if you put their names together Brangelina-style, it would be 'Buddy'! These two toys were from different worlds, but their rivalry ended up with them becoming the best of friends. Sound familiar?

Waiting to Exhale (1995)

This movie proved that all you need are your girlfriends to keep you strong, especially when you've been done wrong by men. Even better than the movie: the soundtrack, which features the Whitney Houston hit "Count On Me," which is says, "Count on me through thick and thin/A friendship that will never end/When you are weak I will be strong/Helping you to carry on..."

Which one of these best friend-centered movies is your favorite? Which BFF-centered movie is your favorite that is not necessarily on this list?
