Michelle Trachtenberg Could Have Been in 'Twilight' ... As Bella?

Three Twilight films in and we can't imagine anyone else playing Edward Cullen and Bella Swan any more perfectly than Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Love them or hate them, you have to admit they play their characters pretty well. But what would Twilight be like if Bella was played by... Michelle Trachtenberg? It could have happened! 

The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress revealed to Us Weekly last night that she was considered for a role in the Twilight movies. 

"There was definitely interest here and there because there's only so few pale girls in Hollywood," Michelle explained. 

"I've known [director] Catherine Hardwicke since the movie Thirteen," she said. "I was actually supposed to star in that, but I was on Buffy at the time."

Interestingly enough, Nikki Reed, who wrote the screenplay for and played a supporting role in Thirteen, also stars in Twilight as a vampire.

"I already have Buffy," she added. "I've already done the vampire thing."

How do you think it would have worked out if Michelle got the role of Bella instead of Kristen? Would Michelle have made a better Bella, or is it better how things worked out?
